Shedding Light on the Path of Less Resistance...and More Flow!

Picture
As a vocologist, my focus is on voice habiliation. This means, my goal is to help professional vocalists (anyone who uses their voice for a living - includes singers, actors, lawyers, teachers, etc.) understand how to use their voice in the most efficient, effective and sustainable way. If, by chance, there is some injury to the voice or a person has gone through surgery, I also aid in the process of rehabilitation (as part of a voice team - ENT, SLP, Vocologist) by helping the person regain strength and get back to performance level - making sure there is the proper mindfulness of technique in order to avoid future injury.

I work with singers of any style of music as there is much overlap with regard to the fundamental function of voice in all genres. Certainly there are differences as well and I am well-versed in myriad styles of music having sung professionally in opera, musical theater, jazz, rock, r & b, country, pop, etc. The most important thing I stress is that the differences in technique between the genres are far smaller than most of us realize in the beginning. One need not completely change the way they use their voice to achieve authenticity in different styles; the key lies in knowing what small adjustments need to be made. With this approach, one can switch easily between different styles with no vocal confusion.
